Karen's mission is to help clients find an ever-expanding sense of ease with the process of being human. Her many years of both personal exploration and professional training in cognitive-based and body-centered psychotherapy, expressive arts, and mindfulness meditation allow her to work from an integrative model of wellness that values curiosity over judgment and is inclusive of the "whole" person - body, mind, and spirit.
Her journey as a therapist began over 20 years ago, on the "other side of the couch" so to speak. As difficult as it was to face and move through some of her own personal life challenges, she found herself continually excited and enlivened by the process that counseling afforded. Questions became answered, options appeared, and she no longer considered herself a victim of circumstance. After a week long vacation at Omega Institute in Rhinebeck New York, it became clear that her love of self-inquiry extended beyond her own story.
"Karen is a very warm, centered, and talented teacher ... the classes were fun, exhilarating, and well-designed, and each class was different. Karen is clearly experienced (and)... leads with a calm, joy-filled, knowledgeable authority". S.E. , Arlington, MA
"Karen has a deep dedication to healing, wellness and personal transformation. So what she teaches, she also embodies...she is a dynamic and conscientious teacher." Daniel Leven, founder of Leven Institute for Expressive Movement, West Stockbridge, MA

Taking a holistic, body-centered approach to her work as a therapist and facilitator, Karen has completed training in somatic-expressive therapy, play therapy, sand tray therapy, process painting, trauma treatment, Svadhyaya (study of the self) yoga and Shake Your Soul/Kripalu YogaDance. She has also been highly influenced by the work of gifted shamanic healer Luisa Kolker, Leven Institute for Expressive Movement founder Daniel Leven, Art & Soul founder Arunima Orr, and the practice of mindfulness meditation.
Karen brings a light-hearted and grounded presence to the process of deep inner work. A licensed professional counselor of mental health with national certification, she is also an adjunct professor in the Behavioral Science division of Wilmington University, a member of the American Counseling Association, the Association for Creativity in Counseling, and the Delaware Professional Counselors Association.
